Many of us,
if not most, have a Facebook account. It
is considered to be a social tool that has revolutionized the way we
communicate. Persons can do a multitude
of things, including but not limited to voice and video chat with friends;
share video and photo content; post ‘stories’; and even share their live
events. Facebook also provides
businesses of all types, from small and medium enterprises, to multi-national
corporations, the opportunity to market themselves to their respective audiences.
So who
really uses Facebook? It is a common
thought amongst some that Facebook is for ‘old people’. Hmm… Is that true?
Is it relative to their perception of ‘old’? Maybe if they look at statistics, they might
actually be surprised.
According to
one particular study conducted by a German data company, the majority of users
of Facebook fall within the age bracket 18 to 34. The last I checked, that age group does not
fit the description of ‘old people’!! On
the contrary, the graph that is displayed in the link below shows that persons over the age of 54, are the
least in number of persons who use this medium.
In my own
attempt to refute the claims of those who believe that this medium is relegated
to the ‘ancients’, I will say just one thing.
The age group of users of Facebook only affects a particular user
(business or personal), when the age group of its target does not align with
the purpose of that user’s presence.
